Owaisi Speaking Like Stand-up Comedian: Congress

The party said that spreading hatred was against Islamis values, but Asaduddin Owaisi continuously caused animosity between different communities.
Hyderabad | 7th August 2018
The Telangana Congress strongly condemned the statement of MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi wherein he criticised AICC President Rahul Gandhi for hugging Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the debate on the No-Confidence Motion last month moved by the TDP.

"Through his action, Gandhi has given a positive message - that we must love a person even if he hates you. But the BJP and the MIM, who are acting as the ambassadors of hate, are not able to digest the fact that Rahul Gandhi's gesture of love has been welcomed by the entire country. Therefore they are attacking the Congress president even for a good act," Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee (GHCC) Minorities Department chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail said on Tuesday.

Sohail said that spreading hatred was against the teachings of Islam, but through his provocative speeches, Asaduddin Owaisi continuously caused animosity between different communities. "The MIM chief is clearly acting at the behest of BJP chief Amit Shah and PM Modi. He is implementing the RSS agenda of keeping the Muslim community distracted from the real issues," he said.

"If Owaisi is really against the BJP, then he should break his ties with the TRS. While the Congress voted against the Modi government in the No Confidence Motion, the TRS supported the BJP by abstaining from voting. Why is the MIM chief acting blind to the close friendship between Modi and KCR? True Muslims speak the truth even if it costs them their lives. If Owaisi is a true Muslim, then he must also speak on the BJP-TRS ties. And he should also speak on the failures of the TRS government in implementing the promises made to the Muslim community. The MIM should hold a protest against KCR not implementing the promised 12% reservations for Muslims," Sohail said, and alleged that Owaisi was displaying his religion only through his looks and not through his actions.

The Congress leader advised the MIM chief to stop exploiting the Muslim community. "Owaisi should think for a moment before making any statement. Some avoidable remarks in the speech trigger unnecessary debates in the mainstream and social media. They only provide fodder to hate-mongers who target the entire Muslim community. Therefore, by making controversial remarks, Owaisi is only hurting the Muslim community and directly helping in the BJP's growth. If you truly believe that you are representing the Muslim community, then speak like a leader. Don't behave like a stand-up comedian," Sohail told the MIM chief.
