The state government on Monday accepted the recommendations made by the Group of Ministers (GoM) on linking ration cards and the Rajiv Arogyasri Scheme, to limit beneficiaries to people under the Below Poverty Line (BPL).
Briefing media persons after the Cabinet Meeting at the state Secretariat on Monday, Minister for Information and Broadcasting J Geetha Reddy said that people living above the poverty line will not be eligible for treatment under Arogyasri, unless specifically identified.
Geetha Reddy revealed that data of the beneficiaries of the Arogyasri Scheme will also be updated with the data of the Civil Supplies Department so that treatment to white ration card holders can be effectively provided.
Geetha Reddy also stated that white ration card holders will be able to use the cards as identification until the Unique Identification Number (UID) is provided by the Central government.
