The Andhra Pradesh High Court has adjourned the hearing on a petition filed against the ongoing indefinite strike by the APNGOs in favour of Samaikyandhra, to Thursday.
The petitioner, advocate Ravi Kumar, had contended that the strike by APNGOs was illegal and causing inconvenience to the public. He sought the court's orders to get the employees on strike to join their duties immediately.
It may be mentioned here that nearly 4 lakh employees affiliated with the Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers Association and other unions have been on an indefinite strike since the midnight of August 12 in protest against the proposed bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to create Telangana.
The strike has badly hit the administration in 13 districts of coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema, while the functioning of the state Secretariat too has been affected. (INN)
