Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers Association president G Ashok Babu on Sunday alleged that "political rowdyism" was at its peak in Hyderabad and Vijayawada.
Talking to reporters in Vijayawada, Ashok Babu said that the decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh was politically motivated and aimed at making political gains in the 2014 elections.
He said that in order to please a few individuals, the Centre is suppressing the aspirations and sentiments of a majority of people in the state.
He added that a group of politicians were resorting to "rowdyism" for their personal gain while ignoring the welfare of common people.
Ashok Babu also alleged that the Centre lacks clarity over the bifurcation issue.
Except for dividing the state, there is no clarity on the future of the 2 states, its people, distribution of assets, demarcation of boundaries and other issues, he pointed out.
He claimed that a majority of people in the state are in favour of a united Andhra Pradesh and that the political parties should not go against the people's wishes. (INN)
