APNGOs Union president G Ashok Babu on Sunday appealed to the Communist Party of India (CPI) to withdraw its support to a separate Telangana.
Speaking to reporters after meeting CPI secretary K Narayana, Ashok Babu said that he has appealed to the CPI to oppose the Telangana Bill in the state Legislative Assembly and the Parliament.
He said that the Centre is going ahead with the bifurcation of the state while ignoring the sentiments of crores of people of the Seemandhra region, and that therefore, in the interest of justice for Seemandhra people, the CPI should oppose the division of the state.
However, the CPI secretary rejected the appeal, and said that his party has already announced its support for the Telangana state. However, he said that the CPI would respect the sentiments of Seemandhra people and would ensure that they are not meted out any injustice.
He also accused leaders of other political parties of adopting a dual stand on the Telangana issue. He even suggested that leaders must be subjected to narco tests to reveal their real stands on the Telangana issue. (INN)
