BJP Leaders Arrested During Protest Against Tariff Hike
BJP workers, led by former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreyya and city BJYM president L Narender Reddy, were arrested when they tried to barge into the Secretariat.
The city police on Tuesday foiled an attempt by BJP leaders and workers to lay seize to the State Secretariat in protest against the ongoing power crisis.
BJP workers, led by former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreyya and city BJYM president L Narender Reddy, were arrested when they tried to barge into the Secretariat in support of a hunger strike by their party MLAs. The protest was carried out in three spells, with each being foiled by the police.
The arrested leaders and workers were later shifted to Nampally Police Station. Talking to reporters, Dattatreyya blamed Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for the ongoing power crisis, and the increase in tariff. He said that the people would teach a fitting lesson to the Congress party in next elections. He also announced that the BJP would intensify its agitation over the power crisis issue. (INN)
