The TRS today alleged that Chandrababu Naidu was deputing intelligence officers from Andhra Pradesh to conduct surveys in Telangana by posing as reporters, and to dole out cash to the voters to vote for the Mahakootami.
TRS leaders Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, G Ramachandra Rao and D Vithal alleged that Naidu had pressed some six police personnel into each Assembly constituency to distribute money and lure the voters. They said that local TRS leaders and youth had caught such AP policemen in Dharmapuri and handed them over to the Telangana police for violating the election code.
The TRS leaders met the Chief Electoral Officer for Telangana, Rajat Kumar and submitted a plaint against the AP police, and sought immediate action against that department for violating the poll code. They complained that TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was using his police force to conspire against the TRS in the Telangana elections.
The EC should take action against the AP government, they said.
Caretaker Minister K T Rama Rao also launched a scathing attack on Naidu, claiming that the latter was pumping in several crores of rupees to lure voters by using his intelligence department. He sought to know why Naidu had sent his intelligence officers to camp in Hyderabad.
"We are not ready to tolerate at Chandrababu Naidu's conspiracy to violate the poll code by sending his police personnel to distribute money. Clearly Naidu does not believe in his alliance partner the Congress' capability to win the elections, and is intervening directly," KTR said.
He also alleged that the Opposition leaders were depending on Naidu to fund their campaign for the Assembly elections in Telangana, and that Naidu had struck a deal with AICC chief Rahul Gandhi to provide Rs 500 crores towards election expenditure to lure voters to the Mahakutami.
