The new capital of Andhra Pradesh, to come up in Guntur-Vijayawada region, will displace 1,02,401 people living in 29 villages.
According to the statistics gathered by AP officials, the affected people will include 32,143 SCs, 4,663 STs and 65,592 people belonging to other castes.
These villages are spread across 51,786 acres, including 37,701 acres of patta land, 723 acres of endowment land and 585 acres of forest land.
The acquisition of agricultural land of 10,656 acres in these villages for the new capital, will affect 1,914 SC and 417 ST families.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will be personally meeting the representatives of these villages and convincing them to agree for the acquisition.
The farmers of Kurugallu, Borupalem, Abbaraju Palem, Singaipalem, Venkatapalem and Raipudi are scheduled to meet the Chief Minister this evening. (INN)
