The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council was adjourned on Tuesday, without any business conducted.
As soon as the House met on Tuesday, Leader of the Opposition D Veerabhadra Rao moved an adjournment motion demanding a discussion on the liquor scam.
He alleged that the issue was very serious, and that there were reports that ministers were involved in the scam.
In reaction, Tourism Minister Vatti Vasanth Kumar said that a motion once rejected could not be raised again during the same session.
Agriculture Minister Kanna Laxminarayana said that the government was ready to answer all the issues, but that it was not bound to reply to questions being raised "based on newspaper clippings".
However, the TDP members started raising slogans, demanding that the ACB report on the liquor syndicate be presented to the House.
They also demanded the resignation of Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana.
Following pandemonium and uproar, Council Chairman Dr. A Chakrapani adjourned the House for 10 minutes.
When the House re-assembled for the second time after 2 hours, pandemonium was witnessed, leading to adjournment of the House for the day.
Earlier, CPI, CPM and MIM gave adjournment motions on different issues, which were rejected. (INN)
