AP High Court Rejects Chandrababu Naidu's Quash Petition
The former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and TDP president had approached the High Court challenging his arrest in the Skill Development Corporation scam.
TDP president and former AP chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, who approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court challenging his arrest in the sensational Skill Development Corporation scam, was left disappointed today.
The High Court dismissed the petition filed by Naidu asking it to quash the case filed against him by AP's CID.
The judge agreed with the CID lawyers' arguments and dismissed the petition.
Naidu had filed the petition challenging the FIR registered against him in connection with the scam, the arrest proceedings and the remand order issued by the ACB court. In his petition, Naidu submitted to the HC that his remand in the case was illegal. The arguments on the petition were held on September 19, with Supreme Court advocates Harish Salve and Siddharth Luthra appearing for Chandrababu Naidu and Supreme Court advocate Mukul Rohatgi appearing for the CID. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the High Court had reserved its verdict till Friday.
Meanwhile, the TDP has decided to approach the Supreme Court challenging the High Court verdict. The party's senior leaders have already discussed the issue and taken a decision to approach the apex court.
