Black Flags Hoisted Atop High Court

Some advocates managed to evade the heavy police cordon and hoist 2 black flags in the premises of the AP High Court.
Hyderabad | 1st November 2010
Some advocates, on Monday, managed to evade the heavy police cordon and hoist 2 black flags in the premises of the AP High Court, as a mark of protest against the AP Formation Day celebrations.

Talking to media persons later, Advocate G Jyothykiran said that the lawyers had resorted to hoisting the black flags to protest against the government's decision to celebrate Andhra Pradesh State Formation Day, thereby "crushing the sentiments of the people of Telangana".

She further added that the Justice Srikrishna Committee, which is in the process of preparing its report on the future of the State, should also take into account the 'innermost' desire of the Telangana people for a separate state, and also of the "injustice" being meted out to them by Seemandhra leaders.

The advocate added that agitations will not stop till a separate Telangana State is formed.

After the flag-hoisting incident, policemen prevented people from entering the High Court premises.
