The Committee will examine the different aspects of constructing a capital city, and will suggest a plan of action for its development.
Hyderabad | 20th July 2014
Even before the finalisation of the location for the new capital, the Andhra Pradesh government has constituted an advisory committee which will suggest measures for its overall development.

As per the orders issued by Dr D Sambasiva Rao, Principal Secretary to the Government, the Advisory Committee will examine the different aspects of constructing a capital city, and will suggest a plan of action for its development.

The Committee will be chaired by Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister P Narayana. The others members will be Rajya Sabha MP Y S Chowdhary, Guntur MP G Jayadev, former MLA B Masthan Rao, G V Sanjay Reddy of the GVK group, Bommidala Srinivas of the GMR group, M Prabhakara Rao of Nuziveedu Seeds Ltd. and Chintalapati Srinivasa Raju of Peepul Capital.

The Principal Secretary of the MA & UD Department will be its member-convener.

In addition, 3 prominent persons of national and international repute may be co-opted as special invitees to the Committee.

The Committee will advise the government on conceptualization of a vibrant, diverse and inclusive city which will be a magnet for a skilled work force; creation of a highly livable urban eco-system that provides a productive, comfortable and happy life for all its residents; and efficient use of natural resources - land, water and energy; minimal commutes, green technologies, green spaces, waterfronts etc. to promote smart and sustainable urban development; and urban planning policies that promote vertical development along transportation corridors, not only within the city but also in the larger Metropolitan area, thereby preventing development of an urban sprawl.

The Committee will propose an action plan, and will have timelines for the submission of its recommendations, the GO said. (INN)
