The state government, on Thursday, ordered a CID probe into the hacking of 21 major websites of various departments ahead of the tabling of the state Budget for 2012-13 by Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy, on Friday.
According to reports, websites pertaining to gazette notifications, GOs, commercial taxes, horticulture, factories and general administration were hacked.
However, the hackers did not deface the home pages of the departments, and are thought to have hacked the websites only to show their skills.
An additional page was also found added to the site of the state Budget.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy said that here was no need for worry on the leaking of the Budget's details. He said that the figures and other details were to be hosted on the website only after the tabling of the Budget in the Assembly.
IT secretary Sanjay Raju said that the CID probe would reveal details about whether the cyber-criminals had hacked the sites or whether the sites were affected due to a virus. (INN)
