Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday reiterated that his party would build a "Social Telangana" if voted to power in the ensuing elections.
Addressing a meeting on the occasion of Social Reformer Mahatma Jothirao Phule's birth anniversary celebrations at NTR Trust Bhavan here, Naidu claimed that it was the TDP that initiated the process of imparting social justice in the State - TDP founder late N T Rama Rao encouraged ordinary people to join electoral politics and empowered several weaker sections of the society.
Naidu said that it was the TDP's policies which encouraged the weaker sections to fight for their rights in society.
Naidu reiterated his promise that the TDP would make a Backward Classes leader as the Chief Minister of Telangana. He condemned the Congress for not giving a similar assurance. He appealed to the BCs to support the TDP for their own empowerment.
The TDP chief also recalled the services of Jothirao Phule for the empowerment of BCs and weaker sections.
