On Saturday, nearly 500 activists of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) staged a protest at Gandhi Bhavan demanding that the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee grant tickets to the INTUC for the forthcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to media personnel, INTUC's joint secretary V Srinivas said that the Congress party has always ignored the services of the INTUC leaders while deciding the allocation of tickets, and therefore, it should allocate tickets to the trade union leaders for the ensuing elections.
He said that a representation in this regard had also been made to the Congress High Command.
The dharna went on for nearly 3 hours, disrupting the regular activities at the Telangana Congress headquarters. (INN)
