A Sub-Inspector of the Mir Chowk police station was trapped by the Anti-Corruption Bureau today when he was accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a person.

According to reports, the SI, Sarangapani, allegedly demanded Rs. 2 lakhs as bribe from the complainant against whom a case of cheating had been registered in 2017 following a "court-referred complaint".

The SI allegedly demanded Rs 2 lakhs, and had received the first installment of Rs 50,000 through constable Kiran when the ACB officials trapped the constable and the SI.

The police registered a case and took up investigation.

A few weeks ago, the ACB officials had trapped another SI, belonging to the Asifnagar police station, while accepting a bribe from a pan masala dealer.
