Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today launched another farmer welfare scheme, YSR Jalakala, which was one of his election promises.
The scheme is meant to provide free borewells in the dry lands of the state.
The Chief Minister launched the scheme at his camp office.
The state government is planning to dig 3 lakh borewells across the state under the scheme, and will spend Rs 2,340 crore and irrigate 5 lakh acres of land.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM claimed that the YSR Congress government had taken another historic step for the welfare of the farmers of the state.
The catch? The CM said that the government would take up the borewell works after completing the groundwater survey.
