Hyderabad | 1st January 2015
The Andhra Pradesh Government on Thursday issued the rules for the voluntary land pooling for the establishment of the new capital.

Municipal Administration Principal Secretary Giridhar Aramane issued the orders pertaining to the Andhra Pradesh Capital City Land Pooling Scheme (Formulation and Implementation) Rules 2015.

In its orders, the State Government said that one of the critical priorities for the state of Andhra Pradesh was the formation of the new capital city, which was very important from the perspective of economic development, cultural integrity and administrative functioning.

The orders stated that the Government of Andhra Pradesh had decided to establish a green field capital city as a liveable, environmentally sustainable and people's capital. For this purpose, the location of the capital was identified between Vijayawada and Guntur cities on the bank of the river Krishna. The order stated that the government had also decided to go for decentralized development of the State with three mega cities and 14 smart cities.

The order also added that the State Government had enacted the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority Act, 2014, (Act No. 11 of 2014) for the declaration of the New Capital Area for the State, and for the establishment of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority for the purpose of planning, coordination, execution, supervision, financing, funding and promoting the capital region for Andhra Pradesh, and for managing and supervising urban services in the new capital area.

Stating that the APCRDA Act had come into force with effect from December 30, 2014, the State Government said that an area of about 7,068 sq. kms. for the Capital Region and 122 sq. kms. as the Andhra Pradesh Capital City Area had been notified under the Act. (INN)
