Recently, YSR Congress levelled accusations that the voters list had been tampered in the Pileru assembly constituency. The party demanded the Election Commissioner to rectify the errors on time, therefore allowing all eligible voters to take part in the democratic process.
?The names of many of the YSRCP supporters in the Chief Minister?s constituency have been deleted, even though they all have voter ID cards. Meanwhile, some Congress workers have been shown to have dual voting rights.
"When we urged the EC to look into the irregularities, he referred the matter to the District Collector. We have demand that the electoral rolls should be set right before the closing of nominations," party spokesperson Janak Prasad told reporters on Wednesday.
According to the YSRCP members, most of the irregularities have been noticed in the Chief Minister's home constituency, while the same trend was observed in other places too.
"The Chief Minister has been violating the election code by making announcements on the Pulichinthala project, and even the Irrigation Development Corporation officials have been giving statements which go against the code," the YSRCP alleged.
Party members demanded that the voters' rolls should be put in order, and that the deleted names should be included in the lists before July 13, which is the last date for nomination in the first phase. (INN)
