Union Minister K Chiranjeevi, on Saturday, expressed surprise over his brother and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan meeting BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
Reacting to Pawan's meeting with Modi in Gandhi Nagar on Friday evening, Chiranjeevi claimed that although his brother was secular, his meeting with a key leader of the "communal" BJP party surprised him.
He said that Pawan should not have met Modi as the latter is facing serious allegations of involvement in the post-Godhra riots. However, Chiranjeevi expressed doubts whether Pawan was aware of the allegations that Modi is currently facing.
Chiranjeevi pointed out that while BJP president Rajnath Singh and other leaders had tried to offer satisfactory clarifications on the issue of the communal riots and the BJP's alleged involvement in them, Modi had neither clarified nor apologised for the same.
He said that he could have accepted Pawan's meeting with Modi if the latter had ever bothered to explain himself. (INN)
