The Congress Coordination Committee, on Sunday, finalised the strategy to be adopted for the by-elections to be held for 18 Assembly seats and one Parliament seat, in the state on 12 June.
The meeting, chaired by Union Health Minister and in-charge of State Congress Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad, was held at the camp office of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, in Begumpet, to review the preparations for the by-polls.
Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana, Deputy CM Damodar Rajanarasimha, Rajya Sabha MP K Chiranjeevi, Lok Sabha MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, MLC D Srinivas and former minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir attended the meeting.
According to sources, Azad was unhappy with the way the state's Congress leaders were countering Jaganmohan Reddy's attacks on the government. The Congress has now decided to launch an aggressive campaign against Jagan, while highlighting the cases of corruption against him.
Azad has reportedly instructed the Congress leaders to work unitedly and set their personal agendas aside.
The coordination committee also discussed the list of aspirants for the by-elections. However, the final list of candidates is likely to be announced next week, after the approval of Congress president Sonia Gandhi. (INN)
