Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, on Tuesday, alleged that Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu took a U-turn on the Telangana issue in view of the Samaikyandhra agitation.
Talking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan, Anam said that Naidu had not only supported Telangana formation, but had also written a letter to the Centre favouring statehood for the region.
"He even demanded Rs. 5 lakh crore from the Centre for the new capital of Andhra Pradesh. However, when the Samaikyandhra agitation intensified in the Seemandhra region, he took a U-turn and started enacting political dramas in the Parliament through his party MPs," he said.
He also ridiculed Naidu's proposed bus yatra in the Seemandhra region.
Anam claimed that the proposal to divide Andhra Pradesh is being vehemently opposed by the Congress leaders from the Seemandhra region, and added that they would ensure that the state remains united. (INN)
