Amrita Medical University In Amaravathi
India's renown research-based university Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham will set up a medical university in Amaravathi, the capital of Andhra Pradesh.

India's renown research-based university Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Amrita University) has come forward to set up a medical university in Amaravathi, the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
Responding to the Chief Minister's request to set up such a facility in Amaravathi, a delegation from the university said that Mata Amritanandamayi had taken a decision to that effect.
Alongside the Rs 2,500-crore medical university, a multispeciality hospital with a 2,250-bed capacity will also be constructed.
A research-healthcare campus centre, affiliated to the medical university, will also be set up.
A delegation from Amrita University presented a detailed report on the proposed university and multi-specialty hospital to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
"In our pursuit to make Andhra Pradesh a knowledge and education hub, we are seeking assistance and technical support from international institutions. Already 13-14 institutions have come forward to support Andhra Pradesh. Amrita Medical University in Amaravathi will bolster the city's prospects worldwide," the Chief Minister said.
Several international institutions have already come forward to set up medical facilities and institutions in Amaravathi. Recently, the Andhra Pradesh government entered a Memorandum of Understanding with Indo-UK Institute of Health (IUIH). The union government is also constructing an AIIMS in Mangalagiri.
Amrita University is a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary research university, and is ranked as one of the best research universities in India. The university continuously collaborates with top US universities including Ivy League universities and top European universities for regular student-exchange programs, and has emerged as one of the fastest growing institutions of higher learning in India.
University pro-chancellor Abhayamrita Chaitanya, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences Director Dr. Prem Nair, Ammaji Labs Director Bhavani Bijlani, Amrita International Representative (California) Srinivas Polisetti and others were present.
