The Maharashtra police has denied permission to MIM floor leader in the Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi to visit Mumbra in Thane district of Maharashtra.
Owaisi was to attend an Iftar party and other programs in Mumbra. However, the Thane police served a notice to Owaisi last night asking him not to proceed with his visit.
Meanwhile, speaking to media persons, Owaisi expressed his resolve to visit Thane.
As a people's representative, he said he had a right to move freely across the country.
He said any opposition to his visit would be countered democratically, and the MIM would approach the courts to seek permission.
He also announced that he would visit Aurangabad, Daulatabad, Mumbai and some cities of Uttar Pradesh shortly. (INN)
