Amaravati MP and BJP leader Navneet Kaur's comments on Akbaruddin Owaisi's 2013 comments sparked a controversy between BJP and MIM today.
Reminding the crowd while addressing an election campaign in Hyderabad of the comments of Owaisi that the Muslims would show their power if the police was kept aside for just 15 minutes, she said that the Hindus required only 15 seconds to show their power and send him and his community to where they came from.
MIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi responded to Navneet Kaur's remarks. He asked her to take one hour instead of 15 seconds to do what she wanted with the Muslims, and that they were ready to come wherever she wanted them to come.
He added that the BJP was in power at the Centre.
"Take an hour, not 15 seconds. I am challenging her to do what she wants with the Muslims. You are in power. Wherever you want us to come, we will come there," Owaisi said.
The MIM demanded that the Election Commission take action against Kaur's statement. MIM spokesperson Waris Pathan said that the BJP leaders were making such statements in violation of the Election Commission rules, and that the Election Commission should take appropriate action.
In the year 2013, Akbaruddin Owaisi, Asaduddin Owaisi's brother and an MLA, made highly incendiary comments. "Remove the police for 15 minutes and we will tell who has how much power," Akbaruddin Owaisi had said. He was arrested by the police and sent to jail in the case. However, the court acquitted him in the case.
