Telangana IT and Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao today offered financial assistance to a poet-writer suffering from paralysis for a couple of months.
On getting to know about the condition of Chaitanya Prakash, a poet and noted story-writer who is living in a shed at Siricilla, the minister asked his office to extend Rs 3 lakhs and also provide the necessary healthcare services to help cure his problem.
Hailing from Mustabad mandal, Chaitanya Prakash was admitted to Apollo Hospital recently after a paralytic attack, and was discharged later. Needing to take care of his aged mother and his sister, Prakash has been facing problems in making both ends meet, and is living in the shed of a friend in Siricilla, which is represented by KTR. Moved by his condition, K T Rama Rao rang up to his office and directed the officials to provide Prakash financial assistance on April 23.
A release from KTR's office said that Prakash had been in the literary field for the past 25 years, and took ill in February. During his two and half decades of work in literature, Prakash published several novels, three books, an anthology of poems and other works. He is noted for works focusing on documenting village words going out of usage, old culture, the traditions of villages, the various dialects and the living styles of the poor.
The state government had released his book comprising 6,000 Telangana proverbs and idioms during the recently held World Telugu Conference in Hyderabad.
The literary exponent also works for social justice.
Officials from KTR's office are expected to offer Rs 3 lakhs to Prakash on Monday, and take steps to ensure he gets healthcare services. They are also likely to announce a double bedroom house for him.
Prakash's mother Yellamma extended her thanks to the minister for his gesture. Some literary experts also appreciated KTR.
