The
indefinite hunger strike by Opposition leader and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday drew people from all walks of life to visit him and express their solidarity, including leaders from political parties across the country.
Prominent among the visitors today was All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MP S Semmalai, who was dispatched by his party chief J Jayalalithaa.
Semmalai was driven to the New MLA Quarters at Adarsh Nagar in the heart of the city, where Naidu's fast entered its third day on Sunday.
Talking to media persons after meeting Naidu and inquiring about his health, Semmalai appealed to the state government to do justice to farmers who were affected by the cyclone and release a revised relief package for their crops.
Semmalai warned that if the government does not respond properly to the farmers' demands, it has to pay heavy price for them in future. He said the AIADMK would support the TDP at the national level, on farmers' problems.
The Tamil Nadu MP alleged that ever since the Congress government took charge at the centre and in the state, the governments were following anti-farmer policies and neglecting their welfare.
Meanwhile, a large contingent of TDP workers from Kukatpally came in a procession to the New MLA Quarters and expressed their solidarity with Naidu.
