Film actor and former minister Babu Mohan today announced his resignation from the primary membership of the BJP.
Speaking to the media, Mohan said that the attitude of the Telangana BJP leaders was highly objectionable.
"I worked very hard for the BJP, and campaigned not only at the Telangana level but also for elections across the country. The leaders have been divided into A, B, C and D categories and I have been placed in category D in the most shameful manner," Mohan said.
He said that he realised that the state BJP leaders had decided to insult him. "I want to serve the people of Warangal as an MP. But some leaders in the BJP have been troubling me by keeping me away since the Assembly elections and not even taking my calls. That's why I have decided to resign from the BJP," Mohan said.
In 2018 and 2023, Babu Mohan had contested for the post of MLA of the Andol Assembly constituency on BJP tickets. In the last election, he ended up in the third position. He is now making efforts to contest from the Warangal Lok Sabha constituency in the next Parliamentary elections. It is learnt that the BJP leaders have refused to give the Warangal ticket to Babu Mohan, resulting in his decision to resign.
For the unversed, in 2023, the BJP high command had first tried to give the Andol Assembly constituency ticket to Babu Mohan's son Uday Mohan. Babu Mohan then alleged by holding a press conference at the Press Club that the BJP was creating a rift in his family. At the last minute, the high command finally gave the ticket to Babu Mohan himself.
