BRS working president K T Rama Rao today reacted to the alleged attack on his party activists in Achampet during the just-concluded Lok Sabha election polling in the State.
"Yehi hai kya aapki mohabbat ki dukaan?" (is this your shop of love?) he asked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on his Twitter handle.
He also requested the Telangana DGP to take immediate action against those responsible.
"It is shameful that the police are part of the attack on opponents of the ruling party and its misuse of power. Immediate action should be taken against the goons responsible for the attack, and the policemen who played spectators. Otherwise we will approach the Human Rights Commission," KTR said.
Former IPS officer and Nagarkurnool BRS MP candidate R S Praveen Kumar also took to Twitter and, sharing a video of the incident, said, "Is this friendly policing? The police played a spectator role while the attack was going on, and were negligent in arresting the accused."
Congress workers allegedly attacked the house of BRS councillor Sunkari Nirmala Balaraju at Achampet in Nagarkurnool district with sticks on Tuesday. The police were there, but did not try to pacify them. Several BRS workers were injured in the attack by the Congress workers. The police registered a case on the complaint of the victims.
Meanwhile, BRS activists took out a rally from Balaraju's house and staged a dharna in front of the police station demanding that the Congress stop the political attacks.
