As many as eight persons, including two minors, belonging to the city were burnt alive when the bus in which they were travelling caught fire after colliding with a goods lorry at Kanakapura of Kalaburigi in Karnataka.
The bus fell into a canal after hitting the lorry.
The victims were returning to the city from Goa.
The deceased were identified as software engineer Arjun Kumar, his wife whose name is not yet known, Bivaan, Deekshit, Anitha, Raju, Siva Kumar and Ravali.
The accident also left 27 others injured.
The injured were rushed to three private hospitals of the Kalaburigi district.
The victims belonged to the Bollaram and Risala Bazaar areas in Secunderabad, and were part of 32 persons belonging to two families who were on their way to Goa to celebrate a birthday. 21 belonged to one family and 11 to the other family.
The accident took place on the Srirangapatnam-Bidar highway. The bus belonging to the Orange Travels company had 35 people, including the bus driver and two attendants.
