Telangana Medical, Health and Family Welfare Minister Etala Rajender today said that the 1,500-bed hospital put together in a 13-floor building in the Gachibowli Sports Village would be inaugurated on April 20.
He said that the hospital would be dedicated to treating coronavirus patients.
Rajender also said that the government was in the process of procuring 10 lakh PPE kits for health and security staff.
Meanwhile, 50 more persons tested positive for the coronavirus in the state, taking the overall number of cases to 700. This is a disappointment since the number of new cases yesterday was just 6, giving hope to people that the virus was on a downswing in the state.
At the same time, 68 persons who were under treatment for the virus at government hospitals recovered, and were discharged on Thursday.
Almost 90% of the positive cases reported today were from areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation jurisdiction.
Surveillance teams meanwhile collected samples from nearly 800 suspected cases across the state today and sent the same for testing.
In other news, a cabinet meeting will be held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on April 19 at 2:30 pm at Pragathi Bhavan. The cabinet is expected to decide on whether the lockdown being implemented strictly in the state should be continued till May 3 or, in tune with the thinking of the Centre, some concessions should be given after April 20.
