At least 40 employees of a cement factory were admitted to hospital after falling ill due to suspected contamination of water in Elamanchili mandal in Visakhapatnam district on Thursday.
According to sources, about 40 employees working in Mulakalapalli cement factory were admitted to hospital after displaying symptoms of dehydration and diarrhoea. The workers had consumed the repotedly contaminated water during their breakfast.
All the workers have been shifted to government general hospital in Elamanchili. Among the 40, 5 of the employees' condition turned critical.
Following the advice of doctors, the officials of the cement factory shifted them to King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam district.
The officials collected the water samples from the factory and sent to a laboratory for analysis.
