Four students and the driver of the auto they had been travelling in died in the early hours of Thursday morning after a state RTC bus hit their vehicle head-on at Repudi village of Firangipuram mandal on the outskirts of Guntur.
It is being believed that poor visibility due to fog led to the bus, which was on its way from Ponnuru to Srisailam, ramming into the auto.
Seven class 10 students were travelling in the auto from Vemavaram to their school in Perecharla. While four students and the driver died on the spot, the three other students were grievously injured and have been shifted to the GGH hospital in Guntur.
The Guntur district RTC Regional Manager G Srihari visited the accident spot, and a case has been booked against the RTC driver who is absconding.
