The government has confirmed that there have been 23 positive cases of swine flu, as well as 4 deaths due to the dreaded disease, since January this year in the state.
Assuring people that all measures to contain the spread of the dreaded disease have been put in place, Medical Health & Family Welfare Principal Secretary P V Ramesh said that government and private hospitals have been equipped to treat the affected.
Isolation wards, vaccines and medicines have reached 17 district hospitals, 11 teaching hospitals and 28 private hospitals, he said. Mr Ramesh revealed that 60,000 Swine Flu vaccines have been utilised so far out of 80,000 sent by the Centre.
The Principal Secretary also appealed to the people to not take preventive medicines without medical advice.
Mr Ramesh added that steps have been taken to arrest the spread of other monsoon-related diseases. He said that the supply of drinking water is also being monitored to prevent contamination.
