35 Lakh People Getting Asara Pensions In Telangana
Telangana Panchayat Raj & Rural Development Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao today outlined in the Assembly all the pensions being offered by the government.
Telangana Panchayat Raj & Rural Development Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao today informed the Assembly that around 35 lakh people would be getting the Asara pension in the state.
The pensions would help the poor live with self-respect, Jupalli said.
He claimed that the government was always concerned for the welfare of the poor and the downtrodden. That was also the reason that it had started another pension scheme to help single women who were living alone, a scheme which would be effective from April.
The same thinking also led the government to set up medical boards across the state to lend a helping hand to handicapped people. A total of 9.33 lakh disabled people had filed applications, of which 6.37 lakh had been identified as eligible for pensions.
Jupalli added that the pensions for the handicapped would be distributed through post offices to avoid inconvenience to the recipients. He said that the government would also consider more applications for the handicapped pensions.
