3 Crooks Posing As Policemen Nabbed
The Marredpally police has arrested 3 men who used to pose as policemen to extort money from unassuming aged persons from rural areas at various spots in the city.
The Marredpally police apprehended 3 persons, who were accused of extorting money by posing as policemen, at the Jubilee Bus Station in Secunderabad late on Wednesday night.
According to Sub-Inspector Faizullah Khan, the accused persons were identified as Jaganadham Nageshwar Rao (45), Guthi Anil Kumar (32) and Guthi Suresh (34).
Khan revealed that the accused persons were involved in 26 such offences committed within the limits of Marredpally, Karkhana, Begumpet, Bowenpally, Mahankali Market, Gopalpuram, Saifabad, Nampally and Afzalgunj police stations during the last 2 years.
The police reported that the accused had extorted Rs. 17,66,500 and 61 tolas gold till date.
"We have recovered Rs. 1.5 lakh in cash and 15 tolas gold from their possession," said Khan, and further revealed that the accused would target aged persons from rural areas and threaten them to part with their money/ornaments.
The SI further said that the police department has frequently appealed to the general public that when approached by plainclothes persons who demand to check their belongings, the police control room (numbers 100 and 1090) should be contacted immediately. (INN)
