The Habeeb Nagar police arrested notorious rowdy sheeter Mohd Kaiser alias Chor Kaiser residing beside Yousufain Dargah in Nampally, for involvement in an extortion case.
Bhanu Prakash Reddy, SI of the Habeeb Nagar Police Station, received information on October 24 that one Vanarasi Yadagiri of Gudimalkapur had approached Kaiser to eliminate his rivals, who were involved in the murder of Yadagiri's brother Vanarasi Raju in 2016.
Kaiser accepted the proposal, and took Rs 2 lakh to carry out the task with his associates. But Kaiser failed to execute the task, and kept postponing it on one pretext or the other. Yadagiri then asked Kaiser to return his money.
Instead of doing that, Kaiser asked Yadagiri to pay him a further Rs 4 lakh threatening to eliminate him if he did not comply.
Out of fear, Yadagiri paid Rs 2 lakh at Sun City and an additional Rs 1.5 lakh at Tabanda Hotel in 2021 and 2022 respectively, and upon continued threats by Kaiser over the phone, another Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 15,000 at different times.
Yadagiri finally requested the police to take action against Kaiser for his extortion, conspiracy to commit murder (supari) and threats.
Police said that the activities of the accused included threatening innocent persons and extorting money from them at knife point, taking supari to commit murder, land grabbing, settlements and such. He had started his criminal activities with pocket picking and committing petty theft, and in the year 1995, murdered one Afzal at a toddy compound in Goodshed, Nampally, along with a friend Aqeel.
After release from jail on bail, Kaiser formed a gang and started threatening innocent persons, and is involved in as many as 22 criminal cases. He is said to have earned around Rs 100 crore illegally. His criminal activities resulted in externment orders issued against him in 2011, but after completing the one-year externment, he returned to Hyderabad and again started his criminal activities, due to which he was detained under the P D Act in 2014 and was lodged in the Cherlapally prison.
Kaiser was apprehended and produced before a court on Thursday, and was sent to judicial remand.
The police appealed to the general public not to be afraid of Kaiser and lodge complaints personally, or anonymously through Hawkeye or the Hyderabad Police Whatapp number, for initiation of action against him.
