The City Police on Wednesday arrested 3 persons who were allegedly involved in 11 cases of chain-snatching.
According to the police, the accused - Syed Ilyas, Syed Obaid Hussain and Shaik Javeed - were arrested while they were riding a bike at a suspiciously fast pace.
On being stopped and searched, the police team recovered 2 stolen gold chains from their possession, which they had planned to dispose at Shali Banda.
During interrogation, they confessed to their involvement in 11 cases of chain-snatching in the limits of 7 police stations in the city.
At their instance, police recovered about 25 tolas of gold chains worth nearly Rs. 7 lakh from their possession. One Pulsar and a Hero Honda bike used in committing the offences have also been seized.
Police said that the accused first stole motorbikes from Hi-Tech City, and later used them to snatch chains during the day time.
The above arrests were made by Malakpet Detective Inspector M Mattaiah, with the assistance of DSI M Venkateshwar Goud and other team members. (INN)
