Crazed dogs continue to terrorise the residents of East Godavari, and the local authorities continue to ignore the threat posed by the mad dogs.
Yet another man in Kakinada, East Godavari, succumbed to a dog bite on Thursday, taking the death toll due to rabies in the district to 8.
The residents of Kakinada lament that several crazed dogs are prowling the city, and that they are attacking children and the aged, neither of whom can effectively fight off the dogs.
Upto 20 people are reported to have been injured by the group of crazed dogs in the recent past.
According to sources, frustrated by the apathy of the local authorities, the residents of the city attempted to beat the dogs to death, but in vain.
For almost a month now, cases of dog-bites are regularly being reported in the district of East Godavari. And the death toll due to rabies is steadily increasing even as medical officials concerned deny any shortage in the supply and distribution of anti-rabies vaccines.
