Industries Minister K T Rama Rao today told the Assembly that the Telangana government was doing its best for the rapid development of the state and to create employment, and that so far its efforts had resulted in the creation of almost 19.50 lakh jobs in the manufacturing, IT and government sectors.
He lashed out at the opposition parties for however trying to "defame" the TRS government with misinformation and mud-slinging on the issue.
Rao claimed that the government was most recently able to attract noted apparel company Kitex from Kerala when the company had announced its decision to exit from that state. Several other states and even some countries had tried to get the company to relocate to their territories, but the TRS government succeeded in getting Kitex to select Telangana for its big investment, Rao informed the house.
A lot of such work was being put in to ensure that the companies came in to invest in the state, he said, and appealed to the opposition parties to avoid making deliberate attempts to tarnish the image of the KCR government with falsehoods.
"Our government is committed to creating jobs for the local youth. Most of the companies investing in the state and giving jobs to our youth are coming due to our government instilling confidence in them. We offer state-of-the-art facilities and hassle-free permissions to ensure that companies choose to invest here rather than in other states. The RBI in its handbook of statistics said that Telangana was the fourth largest state of the Indian economy, despite being only the 11th largest in geography. Despite all our efforts, however, the opposition parties, jealous that all the investments and development will give the TRS a good name, are resorting to mud-slinging at the government. The people however know the truth, and we will be in power for 20 more years as the people support us for our welfare and development efforts," he said.
Rao also asked why the BJP-led government at the Centre did not help Telangana and failed to keep its promises for the development of the state.
No funds were given by the Modi government for the state, and the state unit of the party should stop falsehoods and instead help with funds for initiatives like the ITIR, the tribal varsity and Rs 1,000 crore for the Pharma City, he said.
