13,421 Building Permissions, Occupancy Certificates In 2024-25: GHMC

The Town Planning Wing of the GHMC oversees development planning and regulatory functions. As part of its development planning, it issues building/layout permissions and occupancy certificates for various types of constructions and layout developments.

The issuance of building/layout permissions and occupancy certificates is now conducted entirely through an online application system. For individual residential buildings up to 10 metres in height on plots of up to 500 sq yards, a self-certification system - known as Instant Registration and Instant Approval - is in place. Citizens can instantly generate building permission orders online through this system, followed by a post-verification process for issuing the work commencement letter.

Recently, to further enhance efficiency and transparency in service delivery and adopt a more citizen-centric approach, the government launched the BuildNow application, powered by AI-based technology, enabling quick and hassle-free issuance of building/layout permissions.

In the financial year 2024-2025, 13,421 building/layout permissions and occupancy certificates were issued by GHMC. The category-wise distribution is as follows:

GHMC generated Rs 1,138.44 crore in revenue from building/layout permissions and occupancy certificates during the financial year 2024-2025.

The tallest residential building permitted this year was in Kondapur (V), Serilingampally (M) - it comprised four cellar floors, a ground floor and 49 upper floors (towers 1 to 8), and reached a height of 165.95 metres.
