CM Pushing Real Estate Agenda With ULB Merger: KTR

KTR criticised the move as yet another attempt to serve the interests of Revanth Reddy's circle, and called the CM the anaconda of corruption.
Hyderabad | 26th November 2025
BRS working president K T Rama Rao today criticised the Congress government for "advancing a hidden real estate agenda" through its proposal to merge 27 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

He referred to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy as the "anaconda of corruption", and suggested that it would be more appropriate to call the CM "Anaconda Revanth Reddy" due to what KTR described as extensive corruption plans.

KTR made the above statement during his visit to the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) in Warangal, which has reportedly generated over 30,000 direct jobs.

Addressing the media, he said that major international companies - including South Korea's Youngone, the Kitex Group and Ganesha Ecosphere - had begun operations at the park. However, he expressed concern that progress had slowed and that the infrastructure had not yet been fully utilised. He claimed that several projects in the park remained unfinished, and urged the government to ensure optimal use of existing facilities.

It was on this occasion that he raised the above concerns over the Congress government's sudden decision to merge 27 ULBs located in and around the Outer Ring Road with the GHMC.

"Nobody knows who requested this merger. No resolution was passed in any of the 27 local bodies, and there has been no discussion with MLAs or elected officials. Not a single line was debated in the Assembly, nor was an all-party meeting convened to address the issue," he said.

KTR criticised the move as yet another attempt to serve the interests of a select few within Revanth Reddy's circle, and claimed that the government's policy on converting industrial land in Hyderabad had already revealed its shortcomings.
