Traffic on the busy Greenlands to Begumpet Airport stretch will soon become more free-flowing after the authorities on Thursday revealed that 3 properties which were blamed for the bottleneck would be soon acquired, and the road widened.
The nala on the stretch would also be covered with a slab so that the bottleneck, which has been blamed for the traffic jams on the stretch, can be removed.
This is part of the efforts of the ongoing Chief Minister's 100-days action plan for city development. The authorities claimed that 40% of the target set by the Chief Minister's 100-day action plan for city development had been achieved in the last 40 days.
Speaking to media persons, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Additional Commissioner (Planning and Development) K Dhananjay Reddy stated that the coordination committee appointed to oversee the works was on target.
Speaking after a tour of 3 places in Secunderabad to inspect ongoing works, Dhananjay Reddy said that the Oliphant Bridge would be made 'one-way' for traffic within the next few days to enable pending works like shifting of power and telephone cables.
The GHMC Additional Commissioner, who is also coordinator of the coordination committee, said that the APSRTC had been instructed not to halt buses near the Oliphant Bridge for longer than 5 minutes.
He said that this step was taken after it was noticed that the traffic flow was being affected due to the buses parked there for a long time.
Reddy also revealed that the state government would release a GO authorising the release of Rs. 9.15 crores so that works on the road over bridge to be built parallel to the existing lakdikapul could begin.
