A 10-year-old city girl Varunika today donated Rs 1 lakh to the state government and asked that the amount be used for the welfare of needy persons.
Instead of spending the money on her birthday party, she met Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao and donated the amount to the Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF).
Varunika's father Gaddampalli Ravinder Reddy accompanied the girl to the CM's camp office and handed over the cheque to the minister.
The minister appreciated the gesture of the girl and accepted the donation. He said that such deeds would make the society a better place for all, and wished Varunika good luck.
Varunika is reportedly a keen follower of KTR and had wanted to meet him for long. She promised the minister that she would do something good for the society on her birthday every year.
