At least 10 school students and a teacher reportedly suffered injuries when they slipped and fell on a moving escalator at a multiplex in Banjara Hills on Thursday.
Sources said that the students had come to the Inox multiplex at the GVK Mall at Banjara Hills to watch the free screening of the movie Gandhi as part of the diamond jubilee celebrations of India's independence. Due to some technical glitches, the escalator was suddenly stuck in the middle when the students were on its staircases, resulting in the injuries to them, including an ankle fracture to one.
Officials said that all the students were safe, and that the parents of the injured students had been informed about the incident.
As per the directions of Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, all the injured students were admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills for treatment.
Hyderabad Collector Amoy Kumar too said that all the students were safe, and appealed to the parents not to panic
