GHMC Commissioner M T Krishna Babu said that citizens whose children have crossed 15 years from the dates of their birth are allowed to enroll their names in birth certificates.
Upon receiving complaints from the public, the GHMC had written a letter to the government for the 2nd and final chance of relaxation for enrolments of children's names in birth certificates. It had asked for clause (I) under (II) of sub rule (I) of rule 10 of the Birth And Death Rules 1999 to be relaxed.
The move was made keeping in mind the necessity of birth certificates for people to apply for the foreign jobs, and also for students applying for passports or visas. However, the clause will be relaxed only upto December 31, 2014.
The commissioner further stressed upon the fact that every child's correct name must be entered in the GHMC records - names registered cannot be modified later. (INN)
