Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA from the Telangana region Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Friday stated that some people from the Seemandhra region living in Hyderabad are opposing the separate statehood demand even though the Telangana leaders have repeatedly assured that their lives and properties would be safe after the bifurcation of the state.
He said that these people may go and live in the erstwhile Madras Composite State if they are inclined towards a United A P.
Talking to media persons at the Assembly media point, the MLA stated that the lives and properties of the Seemandhra people who extend their support to the Telangana state formation would be secure, while no such guarantee could be given to those against the bifurcation of the state.
Errabelli stated that though the Seemandhra people have a right to live in Hyderabad, the question about their contribution to the development of the city remains unaswered.
"What efforts have they made for the development of Hyderabad?" he asked.
Stating that the "so-called agitation for keeping Andhra Pradesh integrated" is politically motivated, Dayarkar Rao said that the public were not behind the Samaikyandhra agitations. He pointed out that as many as 600 students had committed suicide for the cause of Telangana, while not a single Seemandhra student was willing to give up his life for the cause of Samaikyandhra.
