Telangana Youth Congress president Anil Kumar Yadav on Thursday said that the wing would boycott the Sunburn Festival proposed to be held on November 24 at the Gachibowli stadium.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Yadav blamed such festivals for giving rise to a drug culture in the city.
Referring to the recent drug bust in Hyderabad wherein several prominent Tollywood personalities were summoned by the police department for interrogation, Yadav said that allowing the Sunburn festival even now showed the seriousness of the state government in dealing with drug menace.
Claiming that the Goa and Maharashtra governments had banned the festival, Yadav asked the TRS government how could it accord permission for the event to be organized in the city given the rising drug epidemic which was closely correlated to such events.
Speaking to the media separately at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday, TPCC official spokesperson Addanki Dayakar too launched a similar diatribe. He also alleged that IT Minister K T Rama Rao was the brain behind the event as his brother-in-law was the organizer of the Sunburn festival in Hyderabad.
Dayakar said, "The government did not give permission for Koluvulakai Kotlata, but is ready to allow such degenerate events to be organized. The IT Minister is encouraging a booze culture, and the state government is behaving like a broker by giving permission to nude dance programs."
