The State government has decided to fill 200 vacancies for Town Planning Supervisors / Town Planning Assistants and 26 Food Inspectors (Food Safety Officers) in GHMC.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao signed the file to this effect today.
The posts will be filled through direct recruitment, with notification done through TSPSC.
The decision was taken keeping in view the actual requirement given the nature of work and the activities of GHMC. GHMC had urged the government to fill the posts to enable speedy processing of the administrative and technical files at the ground level and thereby provide the basic civic amenities to the citizens to make Hyderabad a clean and green city.
The town planning wing of GHMC plays a vital role in according building construction approvals, removal of illegal encroachments and road widening in the rapidly growing city. However, of the total sanctioned cadre strength of 412 from Chief City Planner to Surveyor, the present strength is only 135. In order to ensure a properly planned development of the city into a truly global city, Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao requested the Chief Minister to fill the vacant posts quickly.
As per the instructions of the Municipal Administration Minister, the file relating to the filling up of the vacancies was sent by the Secretary, Municipal Administration, Navin Mittal to the Chief Minister. Mittal explained that separate staff were required for taking up building construction approvals, removal of illegal encroachments and road widening in the city. Currently all these works were being handled by one single officer, which was resulting in a lot of work pressure on the staff.
He also said that there were only three Food Safety Officers in the GHMC area, and there was a need for another 26 officers.
The Chief Minister agreed to the proposal to fill up the posts through the TSPSC.
