Mohammed Ali Shabbir, the Leader Of Opposition in the Telangana State Legislative Council, today charged that the TRS leaders were remarkably ungrateful to the Congress which had given Telangana and also political life to KCR and his family. Cursing the Congress was like children criticizing their mother who fed them, after growing up.
Responding to Telangana minister K T Rama Rao's criticism of the Congress as a "loafer party", he said that KCR's political life started with the Congress as a Youth Congress Vice-President, and if KTR was now calling the Congress a loafer party, then KCR was a big loafer and KTR a small loafer.
He added it was well known that KCR along with his entire family had gone to Congress president Sonia Gandhi's home at Delhi after the formation of Telangana and thanked her profusely, and also gotten a family portrait clicked. After such a show of loyalty and obedience, a member of the KCR family was now calling the Congress names. This exposed not only the political opportunism and hollowness of the TRS and its leadership but also its moral bankruptcy and ingratitude.
"Telangana was the creation of the Congress and its president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in response to the sacrifices made by the people of the region. All the TRS did was ditch the Congress after achieving Telangana," he said.
Accepting the challenge of KTR that the TRS would get 100 seats in the 2019 polls, he said that the Congress was ready for immediate polls.
Blasting KTR for his "unparliamentary" comments on the Congress, Shabbir Ali said, "KTR was in the US during the Telangana agitation, and walked into an MLA seat with power served to him on a platter. Even as late as 2008 he had refused to take up politics seriously, and was even planning to go back to the US, but jumped into politics fully after Telangana was announced by Congress in 2009. He is now talking like a leader who had sacrificed a lot. What a joke!' he said.
He said records in the Odisha government showed that KTR was involved in several scams like a film studio land case, and challenged the minister to come for an open debate on his background and his family's affairs.
